Leaders of the boating industry have come together to enhance awareness of dry stack storage, just in time for the summer boating season. Discover Boating Australia has partnered with several marinas in South-East Queensland to launch a region-wide Dry Stack Promotional Campaign aimed at promoting the benefits and accessibility of dry stack storage, as well as encouraging responsible boating practices.
Participating marinas in this campaign include Pelican Waters Marina, d’Albora’s East Coast and Pacific Point Marinas, Redland City Marina, Runaway Bay Marina, and Scarborough Marina. With Discover Boating Australia at the helm of this marketing initiative, the marinas are working collectively to provide a platform that connects boat owners with nearby dry stack facilities.
A dedicated website page has been created under Discover Boating Australia, featuring interactive resources designed to help the boating community understand the advantages of dry stack storage. The site includes a quiz that aligns users with a marina based on their location and boating habits, signifying the start of further promotional efforts. Future plans include producing informational YouTube videos, short-form social media content, and feature articles that showcase the lifestyle benefits associated with the campaign.
According to the Boating Industry Association (BIA), national industry turnover across recreational boating sectors exceeded $10.2 billion last year, with approximately 35,000 individuals employed in over 2,000 businesses. Marinas and boatyards contribute significantly to the economy, with a valuation of $2.24 billion from the Marina Industries Association. The ongoing demand for on-water experiences makes this Dry Stack campaign pivotal in maximising investment in the industry and enhancing infrastructure.
BIA CEO Andrew Fielding remarked, “We are fortunate in Australia to have an abundance of waterways to explore, supporting a dynamic Blue Economy. BIA is excited to promote the Discover Boating Australia initiative, which underscores that dry stacks provide exceptional care for your boat while ensuring it’s ready for you when needed.”
Les Binkin from Pelican Waters Marina added, “As a designer/operator and MIA director, it is exhilarating to join forces with other marinas to relay a consistent message about dry stack storage benefits to the 75,000 registered boat owners in South-East Queensland. Dry stack storage alleviates many common boating issues.”
Suzanne Davies, CEO of the Marina Industries Association, stated, “New boat owners often have more commitments and less leisure time. Dry stack storage services simplify boat ownership, allowing more enjoyment of the water with family and friends. Marinas also offer various amenities that enhance the boating experience, including convenient pick-up and drop-off points, fuel access, and dining establishments.”
This Dry Stack Campaign is a strategic effort aimed at unifying stakeholders to highlight the significance of marine infrastructure in supporting responsible boat ownership and participation. As vessel registrations continue to rise, adopting dry storage options becomes crucial for future-proofing capacity in the sector. This campaign will not only enhance industry visibility but also promote the participating marinas’ dry stack services across South-East Queensland.
